THANKFUL THURSDAY
I'm so thankful for so many things this Thursday, but if I could choose ONE and only one today, it would be lunch with my husband and daughter. I'm thankful for the relationship Rick and I have with Brittani, I'm thankful for the hilarious personality Brittani has, and I'm thankful for 45 minutes at Red Robbin that I cherished every second of. Rick and I are wondering if she wears anything other than black stretchy pants though!
LOTOJA 2012
Lotoja...Logan to Jackson Hole...1 long day, 206 excruciating miles, 3 mountain passes, and accomplishing something most people will never accomplish.
This year was Rick's eighth time riding this awesome bike race, so you may say to yourself, "no big deal, he has this down", but a lot can happen - and has happened - in those 206 miles.
The Dialogue Racing team trained hard this summer, putting in hours and hours on the bike. They all arrived on Friday at packet pick-up feeling good, and knowing that this might be the year they would all get their best times. We had our annual Olive Garden family dinner at the park, got numbers on the cars and bikes, watched the University of Utah lose to Utah State, and got to bed as early as possible in preparation for the big day.
Bright and early Saturday morning, the boys were ready to go. Rick, Ryan, Nolan and Dave decided that no matter what, they would stay together (Rick, Ryan and Dave always do - Nolan wanted to join the party this year!). They rode so strong, their stops were fast, they all seemed to feel good most of the time, and they all crossed the finish line around 10 hours and 20 minutes later. I think everyone on the whole team got their fastest time except Nolan. It was an awesome moment watching the three brothers come across the finish line together. Riding their bikes together is something they all love. Their relationships have been strengthened as they train and race together. I was so proud of all of them, individually, for the way they rode Lotoja this year.
See you all in Logan next year!
